Anthea Delmotte was born in Windoek, Nambia and grew up with strong connection to the outdoors and the farms of her grandparents. Her subject matter and illustrative scenes often depict a dry quietness of the expanse of the Karoo. Her family surrounded her with craft making and her father’s interest in sketching from a young age, until in the early 1990s, she moved to the Western Cape where she still lives. Her understanding of art comes from intuitive approach and a passion for creating textures and form on a two-dimensional plane. Delmotte has exhibited in 14 of her own solo shows and has a Saatchi Art profile, showcasing her work. Delmotte is a prolific local artist whose attention to detail and light give her a unique characteristic and recognisable style.
